
As of 0:00 A.M. of February 16, no firecrackers or fireworks was used in the urban district of Xiangyang. This is the third year for Xiangyang to ban firecrackers and fireworks in the New Year’s Eve.
On February 15, PM 2.5 in urban district of Xiangyang was reduced by 68.49% compared with that in 2015. No firecrackers/fireworks-injured patient was treated in hospitals and no fire was caused by firecrackers or fireworks in the downtown. The city was much clean due to the ban. Compared with waste produced in the period before such ban, the quantity of waste during the ban period was reduced by 82 tons on daily basis.
