CAIRO, Nov. 12 -- China's top political advisor Wang Yang has inspected Chinese technology giant Huawei's innovation exhibition center in North Africa, encouraging the company to take the innovation-driven approach to seek global expansion and benefit host countries.
Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was briefed on Huawei's operations, investment, research and development and future plans, during his Monday visit to the Cairo-based exhibition center.
During the tour, he visited Huawei's exhibitions on digital family, Safe City and Smart City, while watching 5G videos and experiencing 5G+VR equipment.
Hailing Huawei's adherence to an innovation-driven approach to industry development and active engagement in international cooperation for broader development, Wang said the company has not only developed itself, but also facilitated mutual benefit and win-win results with host countries.
"This is a miniature of the development of Chinese enterprises and a model of exchanges between companies in different countries in the age of globalization," Wang said.
Despite the complex international situation, Huawei has overcome difficulties, realized steady growth, and made contributions to host countries' economic development and employment expansion, which deserves full recognition, Wang said.
He encouraged the company to further open its mind, uphold current development goals, and improve development planning as it continues to promote the development of the industry as well as host countries.
Egypt's First Deputy Speaker Al-Sayed Mahmoud al-Sherif, who accompanied Wang on the tour, thanked the Chinese enterprises including Huawei for their aid and support for the Egyptian people.
He said his country attaches great importance to Chinese enterprises' development in Egypt, while expressing the belief that they will overcome all kinds of difficulties and achieve greater development.
Huawei launched its innovation center and OpenLab in Egypt in 2017, offering technology experience and solution innovation platforms for its clients and partners in the region.
The Chinese telecom company has three institutions in Cairo and six global business centers offering technology service, human resources, operation and maintenance services. It hires more than 1,000 local workers, while indirectly generating more than 30,000 jobs in Egypt.
