China's logistics industry remained in expansion territory in July despite adverse summertime weather conditions, according to data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) on Tuesday.
The index tracking the country's logistics market activity stood at 50.5 percent in July, edging down by 0.3 percentage points from June but remaining in the expansion zone, according to data from the federation.
Regional performance showed strength in central and western China, where business volume indices outperformed the national average. Key logistics segments maintained vitality, with e-commerce express delivery and air logistics emerging as bright spots.
Notably, the e-commerce express delivery business index surged to 69.3 percent, staying in a high-prosperity range. The air transportation index rose 0.8 percentage points month-on-month to 52.8 percent, driven by seasonal shipments of fresh produce. Both road and railway transport indices saw a modest pick-up from a month earlier.
Business activity in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta regions continued to recover, while railway coal transportation increased amid summer energy demand peaks, according to the federation.
