Chinese films awarded at Jordan Children's Film Festival
AMMAN, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Two Chinese films won top awards at the fourth Jordan Children's Film Festival, which concluded on Thursday here at the Royal Film Commission (RFC) headquarters.
Chinese film "The Days with Granny," directed by Zheng Yunchang, won the Jury Award for Best Feature Film. Inspired by Zheng's personal experience, it depicts the bond between a girl orphaned in an earthquake and her "grandma" adopting her.
Another Chinese film, "Who Is Afraid of Writing Class," directed by Ma Lanhua, received the UNICEF Children's Rights Award. The light-hearted animation-live action film follows Xiaohua, a primary school pupil, and her teacher Ma, who experiments with new teaching methods.
The seven-day festival began last Friday and featured local, Arab and international films. Out of 133 submissions, 27 films were selected for screening, according to RFC Managing Director Mohannad Al-Bakri.
