Thanks to various conservation measures, the number of wild goats has kept growing in Aksu Prefecture located south of the Tianshan Mountains, northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Wild goats, under first class national protection, live in Xinjiang, northwestern Gansu province and northwestern Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
