Yeping Village, located in the remote mountains, is hardly accessible by vehicle. As a result, the tradition of manual harvesting has endured. Gao is an experienced farmer with extraordinary reaping and threshing skills. Despite his age, Gao is still hale and hearty. His wife passed away four years ago, so he now lives with his four children.

“I would feel uncomfortable if I didn’t work in the field,” he said. Gao even works on the first day of the Lunar New Year, as farming is an integral part of his life.
